We Have Finally Pressed The Button!
After a rather slow yet successful test period with our first prototype in Homerton, we have fed our insights back into the new iteration, and the final physical solution has come to life. Several weeks of remodelling and tweaking most elements of the platform seems to have paid off, and we finally pressed the button last week for manufacture!
W L West and Sons are manufacturing the enclosure from our London sourced trees, the timber is looking beautiful and we are really happy with the new form. Because of a lack of London Plane availability we have also introduced Beech Timber from The Royal Parks, but with some excitement at Bus-Tops HQ we have found a source of London Plane that originates from within the Olympic Park. The enclosure now incorporates a much steeper viewing angle, a weather channel, much larger heat exchange and tighter geometries around the substructure enabling over a 5 % weight reduction. We have also introduced a new screen laminate, which will reduce glare and reflection whilst offering a better level of diffusion.
Trueform Engineering are fabricating the internal metal substructure, which has had a complete overhaul which has both reduced weight and created new efficiencies in the maintenance elements of the unit. The main factory in Hayes will be our base over the following few months for the ramp up to assembly and installation.
