My work explores the transient nature, purpose and interconnecting relationships of random moving figurative groupings and their interaction with the space around them. Expressing my own personal response to co-occupying the space communicates a sense of displacement and a question of belonging and relevance within that space. My work originates from drawing and photographic studies, which enables me to abstract the essence of form, space and colour for my paintings. Initial washes of inks and acrylics are laid down to evoke the sense of structure, negative space and perspective. My main medium is oil paint, which communicates more desirably the sense of continual movement and fluidity of the form within my work. A large canvas, painterly mark making and a limited colour pallet evokes a suggestion of mood and place, creating a more engaging visual experience and allowing the viewer to explore further, the form and space of the painting ......................................................................................................
