Kate_Davis 

Born in Chesham in 1960, Kate Davis studied for her BA at Falmouth school of Art and MA at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. She went on to be the first female Stanley Picker Sculpture Fellow at Kingston University. In 2007 Davis was artist in residence at The Wordsworth Trust and has most recently completed a DLR commission with Modus Operandi to site four new permanent works at Langdon Park Station. She is currently working with the Scottish artist David Moore on the Light and Water commission, Tideway Wharf, London, with Futurecity and St James. Davis has exhibited widely nationally and internationally and has received numerous awards, including the Sydney Water Sculpture Prize, (2002); the Jerwood Drawing Prize 1st prize (2001); the SARGANT Fellowship, British School at Rome; Young Artist of the Year, Whitechapel Gallery. Her solo exhibitions include Batteries and Giants, Whitechapel Gallery, come at Newlyn Art Gallery, headhearthole at the Wordsworth Trust and recent group shows include, Remix: Selections From the International Collage Center at the Samek Art Gallery, Bucknell University, PA, Kate Davis & Roy Voss at the Russian Club and 21 at Harewood House, Leeds She is represented by Fred [London] and is a tutor and fellow in Sculpture at The Royal College of Art.
